Cat Age Calculator - How Old is My Cat in Human Years?

Estimate your cat’s age in human years and see their general life stage.

Estimated equivalent

This is a general estimate. Health, lifestyle, and individual development affect aging.

How cat years are calculated

Cats mature rapidly. This calculator follows the American Association of Feline Practitioners age chart: the first year is approximately 15 human years, the second brings the total to about 24, and each year after that adds roughly four human years. Cornell’s Feline Health Center uses a similar approximation—16 at age one, 21 at age two, then four years for each later year—which illustrates why the result should be treated as an estimate rather than an exact biological age.

Cat life stages

Kittens become young adults quickly. The AAFP chart classifies cats ages 1–6 as young adults, ages 7–10 as mature adults, and cats older than 10 as seniors, though every cat is different.
