How to split trip expenses
List everyone on the trip and add each expense with the person who paid it. By default, a cost is shared by everyone, but you can choose only the people who took part in a particular expense. The trip expense splitter totals what each person paid and assigns every cent of each cost.
How the settlement works
The calculator first finds each person’s net balance: what they paid minus their assigned share. It offsets debts before recommending payments, so two people do not send money back and forth. Only the net difference matters.
Why fewer payments are better
Settling every receipt separately creates unnecessary transfers. For normal-size groups, this group expense calculator searches for a settlement using the minimum number of payments. That makes it easier to split vacation costs and send a clear “who owes whom” message to the group.
